Stanice NBC navázala na úspěšný hraný film Růžový panter, v hlavní roli s Peterem Sellersem, jako inspektorem Clouseauem. V letech 1969-1978 vytvořila několik sérií krátkých kreslených skečů. Od 1978 do 1980 převzala otěže společnost ABC.
